Can you envision yourself tackling the responsibility of implementing a diverse range of tasks related to payroll, tax reimbursement, and control functions, all while actively contributing to the implementation and consolidation of payroll and tax processes in SAP? The Payroll and Tax Reimbursement Team is part of the Compensation, Benefits and HR Services Division within the Human Resources Department. This team is responsible for running Payroll and calculating Tax Reimbursements for the Bank’s Staff and Retirees worldwide.

What you’ll do:

Working under the limited supervision of the Head of Payroll, you will:

  • Implement payroll and tax related activities for employees and retirees worldwide, ensuring that they are performed in a timely manner and in compliance with our controls, policies and procedures.
  • Interact with key partners from multiple teams on payroll and tax-related matters to align payroll operations to business needs.
  • Analyze payroll system results to ensure resolution of any General Ledger account reconciliation issues in coordination with the Finance Department. 
  • Run reports in SAP to analyze and adjust employees’ and retirees’ payroll as needed.
  • Complete pension payments for international employees and retirees with Bank accounts outside of the United Stated, using SAP. 
  • Prepare and verify reports, reconciliations and controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the payroll and tax payments for Headquarters and all Country Offices.
  • Handle inquiries and special cases from employees in HQ and Country Offices, as well as retirees or other internal clients.
  • Participate in the testing and implementation of system enhancements and support the team’s continuous process improvement methodology.
  • Provide input into the preparation of payroll and taxes information for IDB Invest, internal and external auditors and/or other internal Bank units.
  • Provide procedural/task guidance to more junior colleagues.

What you'll need

  • Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.  
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years progressive experience in Finance, Accounting and/or Human Resources, preferably in an international environment. 
  • Languages: 
    • Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is preferable.

Type of contract and duration

  • International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
