What you’ll need:

  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in one of the IDB’s Country members. The consultancy work will be carried out in an IDB member country within the Region where the residence of the selected candidate is located.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: Master’s degree in water and sanitation-related field, in development studies, public policy/administration or in a relevant area.
  • Experience: A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in the region in sustainable development in general and, preferably, also in water, sanitation and hygiene. An understanding of technical, social and institutional issues relating to water, sanitation and hygiene in low and middle-income countries, both in rural, peri-urban and urban areas. A successful track record of influencing key-decision makers including governments. Knowledge of how regional agencies and key stakeholders operate in the region. A good knowledge of the social, political, policy and institutional environments of countries and the region.
  • Languages: Fluent in Spanish and English. Highly desirable to speak or write fluently French or Portuguese.

 

Core and technical competencies:

A team player, self-starter, able to work in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi-country team. Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively to high level target audiences - both professional/specialist and lay audiences. Experience in establishing contacts at the political level in the region. Experience in convening and organizing multistakeholder meetings and consultations.

 

Opportunity summary:

  • Type of contract: Consultant Full Time.
  • Length of contract: 12 months with an option to renew depending on performance.
  • Starting date: TBD.
  • Location: The consultancy work will be carried out in an IDB member country within the Region where the residence of the selected candidate is located.
  • Responsible Person: Principal Specialist INE/WSA.
  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
