Support for Gender Mainstreaming in financial sector operations


Background:
 

The Connectivity, Markets and Finance Division is looking for a highly motivated professional with experience producing analytical work on gender equality.


The team’s mission:

 

To address and support member countries in the area of inclusive and environmentally sustainable productive development. The Connectivity Markets and Finance (CMF) Division assists member countries to overcome the financing barriers that limit their productive development. Areas of work include financial inclusion, financial and fiscal risk management, financial transparency, housing finance, public debt management, green finance, among others.

 

What you'll do:

 

Provide technical and operational support for gender mainstreaming in IDB-financed operations structured by the Connectivity, Markets and Finance (CMF) division and to undertake the necessary research to develop analytical and technical inputs to inform the work of the division and technical assistance activities.

 
Main activities:
  1. Undertake the necessary research and prepare analytical inputs regarding all relevant gender issues applicable to CMF operations to inform project design.
  2. Provide support to project teams during project design and throughout the project process, including project execution, in all aspects related to gender mainstreaming and compliance with the IDB’s Gender Action Plan (GAP).
  3. Provide support teams with analytical inputs for country-level analysis regarding gender issues in the financial sector, including policy options, to inform sector specific analyses for country strategies.
  4. Participate in the design and preparation of pilots and other innovative initiatives in the context of the technical cooperation programs led by CMF.
  5. Provide support to the diversity agenda of the division.
  6. Contribute to training activities for CMF staff.

What you’ll need:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents
  • Consanguinity: you have no relatives (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including the spouse) who work in the IDB Group.
  • Education: Master’s degree in economics, international development, gender studies or another related field.
  • Experience: 5 years of professional experience, including prior work on gender analytical work or gender mainstreaming in projects. Experience at an international development agency is a plus.
  • Languages:  Spanish and English required.

  • Economics, international development, social science, or another related field.
Skills:
  • Demonstrated research and analytical skills, with experience producing analytical work on gender equality. Experience with women’s financial inclusion and economic empowerment issues preferred.
  • Experience with design or implementation of development projects. Experience at other multilaterals or other IFIs, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
