Background of this search:

The Strategic Risk Management Unit of the Office of Risk Management (RMG/SRM) is looking for a professional with expertise in data management & reporting to support the maintenance of data repositories, interphases and validation tools used by the Banks Integrated Capital Adequacy and Portfolio Analytics (ICAPA) platform as well as implement reports and dashboards to support ICAPA users and Senior Management. This position provides an opportunity to experience managing large data in the context of supporting risk management, financial reporting, and projections for various business units.

The team’s mission:

RMG/SRM is in charge of quantifying and overseeing market, liquidity, and funding risks on the Bank’s balance sheet. RMG/SRM also maintains the Bank’s ICAPA platform composed of a central data repository and the “QRM” Framework used for ALM, capital adequacy and other Bank applications. Currently, SRM has two important projects: 1) Optimize data and interphase management in response to the need of faster turn-around in quarterly delivery of analytics and 2) Implement and maintain automated reporting capabilities for documents and dashboards accessed by senior management.

What you’ll do and deliverables:

  • Support the multi-disciplinary use of the ICAPA data and modeling framework, including extracting, reconciling, and reporting on data from the Bank’s subsystems and general ledger.
  • Automate validation and data transfer processes through scripts/interfaces/coding following the standardized RMG tools to accelerate the delivery times; this includes programming, database design, and solution design.
  • Assist in building and enhancing reporting from the ICAPA data repository.
  • Build/maintain tableau dashboards for multiple projects in the RMG department following the specified guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Bank’s Information Technology staff to implement new requirements, changes in existing SSIS packages, and to identify test cases for UAT following the processes defined in the ICAPA Data Governance.
  • Assist in the ICAPA Data Governance control and implementation of new rules using standardized Bank’s tools.
  • Create and maintain project plans for assigned milestones and provide progress reports.
  • Perform ad-hoc support for users in data needs, security requests and reporting services (troubleshoot issues).
  • Prepare technical documentation, data dictionary, user manual or any other requirement related to the projects.

Payments timeline:

The consultant will submit invoices which should include a detail of the number of days used and the supporting documentation according to the progress of the deliverables.

What you’ll need:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: Master's Degree in computer science, systems engineering, with emphasis in data management. Studies/certificates in Finance or Business is a plus.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related position, ideally in the context of financial institutions.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish required. Knowledge of another Bank language desirable.

Core and Technical Competencies:

  • Proficiency in SQL scripts, programming, reporting and data visualization.

Systems:

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access (including macros and VBA coding/scripts). 
    • Programming in Visual Basic .NET or C#.NET.
    • Scripts/Views in SQL Server (Oracle is a plus).
    • Tableau for data visualization (Power BI is a plus).
    • ETL Tools (SSIS is a plus)
    • Desired: modeling tools (QRM is a plus), Bloomberg, SharePoint, Phyton.
  • Capability to manage large datasets from multiple sources/technology.
  • Ability to track multiple projects; anticipate issues, drive initiatives for results and report progress effectively.
  • Good team player with solid communication skills and ability to coordinate with IT personnel and business users.
  • Capability to understand client needs and provide services that meet expectations of quality and timeliness.
  • Work experience in a multi-cultural environment desired. Experience with financial modeling is a plus.

Opportunity Summary:

  • Type of contract and modality: Product and External Services Consultant (PEC), retainer
  • Length of contract: 12 months
  • Starting date: July, 2022
  • Location: 100% remotely from place of residence of selected candidate and services are expected to be provided from a country where the IDB has offices.
