What you’ll need:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in human rights, anthropology, sociology, international development, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years but 7 years desired of relevant professional experience in social due diligence and supervision, social analysis, work in development projects. Knowledge of the IDB’s ESPF and social policies and at least 5 years of experience in managing social impact assessments at a multi-lateral development bank is required. Excellent knowledge on social context in Latin America is highly desirable. Good analytical and writing skills are required.
  • Languages: Ability to read, write and speak Spanish and English is required. Ability to read, write and speak other official languages of the Bank (Portuguese and French) is highly desired.
  • Core and Technical Competencies: The consultant must have the following competencies in:
    • Technical knowledge – knowledge of and experience in implementing the IDB’s various policies relating to environmental and social safeguards with a good understanding of human rights, worker and community health and safety, resettlement, and stakeholder engagement.
    • Project Management – experience leading the environmental and social due diligence and supervision of Bank financed projects.
    • Communication, Collaboration and Teamwork – excellent communication skills in English and Spanish with positive experiences collaborating with IDB clients, internal and external.
    • Good writing skills, ability to work effectively and efficiently as a member of team. Demonstrated capacity to present in public and various audiences.

 

Opportunity Summary: 

  • Type of contract and modality: International. Consultant (CNS), Full time.
  • Length of Contract: 18 months.
  • Estimated begin date: August 16, 2022.
  • Location: IDB Headquarters in Washington, DC
  • Responsible person: Environment Safeguards Lead and/or Senior Specialist, (VPS/ESG).
  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
