Project Assistant IFD/ICS


The Innovation in Citizen Service’s Division of the Institutions for Development's Department (IFD/ICS) is looking for a professional to assist the ICS team in in the preparation, processing and execution of Bank operations (including loans, technical cooperation, knowledge products, among others).

The team’s mission:

Established in 1959, the Inter-American Development Bank (“IDB” or “Bank”) is the main source of financing for economic, social and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. It provides loans, grants, guarantees, policy advice and technical assistance to the public and private sectors of its borrowing countries.


Within the Institutions for Development (IFD) Department, the Innovation in Citizen Service’s Division (IFD/ICS) develops operational strategies and prepares and supervises the implementation of Bank’s sector operations, including the modernization of the state, public sector governance, digital government, transparency and citizen security at the national, regional and local levels. Currently, the ICS portfolio comprises about 55 loans and 160 technical assistance grants in execution.


The Innovation in Citizen Service’s Division (IFD-ICS) reports to the IFD General Manager and is structures in four clusters responsible for Bank support to Public Management, Citizen Security, digital Government and Transparency in regional member countries.

  1. The hiring of a consultant is necessary to support the high-volume workload of IFD-ICS. 
What you’ll do:
First responsibility
  • Support in the processing of Loan Operations.
  • Participate in drafting, proofreading, and processing operational documents, including Development Effectiveness (DEM), Results Matrices, Environmental Safeguard Screening and Classification Forms, Environmental and Social Strategies (ESS), etc. before their submission to the different committees through the project cycle.
  • Create and monitor calendar for the preparation of operations, ensuring teams understand their obligations and the relevant milestones for its final approval.
  • Maintain and update operation and mission related activities within Bank Systems.
  • Participate in Analysis Missions to support the team in the preparation of annexes.
  • Publish approved documents in the Bank's Internet website, as regulated by policy OP-102 and document GN-1831-36.
Second responsibility
    • Support in the processing of Technical Cooperation.
    • Participate in the drafting, proofreading, and processing of TC Abstracts, TC Documents and annexes.
    • Support the teams of the division in the monitoring the TCs in order to comply with the established execution and closing times through the OPS, WLMS, and Convergence systems.
    • Fund expiration monitoring through the OPER 020 system
    • Complete the life-cycle milestones of the operation in Convergence.
    • Publish approved documents in the Bank's Internet website, as regulated by policy OP-102 and document GN-1831-36.
Third responsibility
    • Provide administrative and technical support to the IFD / ICS team in the processing, follow up and execution of other operational documents (PCRs, ESW and CIP).
Fourth responsibility
    • Provide logistical support in the organization of events coordinating activities with different areas of the Bank for this purpose.
    • Prepare Letters of agreement and correspondence through SISCOR365 and EZSHARE related to the organization and coordination of internal meetings, seminars and workshops.
    • Request hiring of consultants and consulting firms using the programs (ServiceNow, Ezshare, Convergencia, BEO).
    • Process contracts and payments in the Bank's systems.

The activities mentioned above form the principle duties of the position; however, this does not preclude additional responsibilities which may become necessary, to be approved by the IFD/ICS’s Resource Planning and Administrative Sr associate.

What you’ll need:
  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: Technical studies in business administration, international relations, social sciences, management or related fields. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience: 3 years of relevant experience in the following areas: budget control, management reporting, event organizer, payments, contracts, PC (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Internet abilities. Knowledge of Bank’s operational activities is desirable.
  • Languages: Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English and Spanish.
Core and Technical Competencies:
  • The position requires the ability to perform administrative functions for the daily operational activities of the Institutional Capacity of the State Division. The candidate must be a team worker, costumer oriented, and eager to take on new challenges.

  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
