Skills you’ll need:
 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computational Science, Statistics, Public Policy, or related field, with a specific concentration in data and business analytics.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of work experience. Experience in data management and at working in public policy, international development, or a related field. Experience working on development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean is strongly preferred.
  • Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish, other IDB languages a plus.
  • Core and Technical Competencies: Public policy, applied communications, and demonstrable experience managing multi-stakeholder projects or processes. Excellent command of data analysis and data visualization programs, such as Python and R; command of mapping and visualization tools, such as ArcGIS and Tableau. Demonstrable competency with big data analytics and management, associated packages (R: Tidyverse, Webscraping, ggplot, Leaflet), relevant platforms (Amazon Web Services, Apache Spark, Microsoft Azure Databricks), and contemporary techniques (Artificial Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines, Gradient Boosting). Excellent written and oral communication in English and Spanish; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, ability to work independently, self-initiative and responsibility. Knowledge of Bank procedures and experience working in Latin America and the Caribbean a plus.
 

Opportunity Summary: 

 
  • Type of contract: Consultant full time.
  • Length of contract: 12 months.
  • Starting date: December 16th of 2018.
  • Location: Headquarters.
  • Responsible Person: Housing and Urban Development Specialist (CSD/HUD).
  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48-member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.

Payment and Conditions: Compensation will be determined in accordance with Bank’s policies and procedures. The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may contribute toward travel and moving expenses. In addition, candidates must be citizens of an IDB member country.

 

Visa and Work Permit: The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may submit a visa request to the applicable immigration authorities; however, the granting of the visa is at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Notwithstanding, it is the responsibility of the candidate to obtain the necessary visa or work permits required by the authorities of the country(ies) in which the services will be rendered to the Bank. If a candidate cannot obtain a visa or work permit to render services to the Bank the contractual offer will be rescinded

 

Consanguinity: Pursuant to applicable Bank policy, candidates with relatives (including the fourth degree of consanguinity and the second degree of affinity, including spouse) working for the IDB, IDB Invest, or MIF as staff members or Complementary Workforce contractuals, will not be eligible to provide services for the Bank.
