What you’ll need:
  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.  
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in interpretation, international relations, economics, or related field and/or postgraduate certification in simultaneous interpretation.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience as a conference interpreter, including work with international organizations. Familiarity with the LAC region. Solid understanding of development finance, economics, and other subjects related to the IDBG’s areas of work.
  • Languages:  Native fluency in English and/or Spanish as A-language(s), with a strong passive command of French and/or Portuguese as C-languages.
Opportunity Summary: 
  • Type of contract: Consultant
  • Length of contract: 1 month (February or May 2019)
  • Location: Washington, D.C.
  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.   Given the purpose of this consultancy, interpreters currently on the IDB freelance roster need not apply.

Interested candidates should complete an application and include a letter of interest, a CV, and 3 professional references. Selected candidates may be required to take a simultaneous interpretation test.
