Legal Department - IDB Invest Financial Markets and Products Legal Team – FML/LAB Counsel – Consultant

What you will need:

Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Colombia or a resident with legal permit to work in Colombia.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Education: Law degree (Juris Doctor, LL.M., or equivalent degree) from an accredited university and admission to practice law in at least one IDBG member country.

Experience: Professional experience in private sector law firms in the U.S. and in Latin America and the Caribbean is essential. At least 5+ years of relevant professional legal experience. Knowledge and substantive legal experience in both civil and common law systems; and professional experience in cross-border commercial transactions in the following areas:

• Investments in early-stage equity, including SAFEs (Simple Agreements for Future Equity), limited partnerships, especially if involving angel and venture capital, including via trusts and other vehicles.
• Direct equity investments, convertible loans, warrants and other equity participation structures; and
• Grants and loans promoting impact investment, incorporating upside or downside flexible payment arrangements.

Languages: Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish required; knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is desirable.

Opportunity Summary: 

Type of contract: Consultant, full time

Length of contract: 19 months, with the possibility to extend up to 36 months. 

Starting date: February 01, 2022

Location: IDB Group Country Office in Colombia.

Requirements: You must have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
