Paralegal - Secretariat of the Administrative Tribunal (Legal Analyst)

Context of this search: The Secretariat of the Administrative Tribunal is currently looking for a Paralegal to contribute to their work by performing legal and administrative tasks. She/he will directly report to the Executive Secretary and share miscellaneous responsibilities with other team members of the Secretariat.

The team: The Administrative Tribunal of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (Administrative Tribunal), established by the Board of Executive Directors of the IDB in 1981, hears and passes judgment upon any application by which an Employee of the Bank or of the Inter-American Investment Corporation alleges non-observance of his or her employment contract or terms and conditions of appointment.

Most recently, the Administrative Tribunal Secretariat has focused on creating and sharing knowledge, with the goal of promoting high-quality services for the benefit of end users, primarily statistical analysis of the Tribunal jurisprudence since its establishment in 1981.

What you’ll do:

  • Draft, format, proofread and finalize case-related correspondence in both English and Spanish.
  • File submissions and other case-related documents in the Tribunal’s document management system in accordance with the information management standards and IDB record retention requirements and best practice procedures.
  • Conduct research on assigned issues via the use of existing case files and alternative sources (e.g., the internet, online portals, or other databases), information analysis and summary of findings.
  • Assist in the creation of MS PowerPoint presentation materials and other document preparation/formatting tasks when needed for conferences and official meetings; maintain an institutional library with materials and records from all sessions/events.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of all Tribunal event materials and assist to make arrangements for the display and distribution of Tribunal volumes/materials.

What you’ll need:

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Education: You hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education) in law or relevant field. A Paralegal certificate is a plus.

Experience: You have a minimum of three years of experience in international legal professional services, preferably of an international setting Experience in a similar role is a plus.

Languages: Fluency in oral and written English and Spanish.
