Skills you’ll need:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in development, economics, finance, international relations, public policy, public management, law, or similar. 

Experience:

  • 5 years with relevant professional and operational experience in at least one, preferably two of the following areas: public sector reform, e-government, transparency, police reform, or citizen security. Experience in digital government and familiarity with ICT is a plus.
  • Previous experience with the Bank, including a good understanding of Bank operational policies, practices and procedures, is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the LAC region’s political economy and development issues.

Languages:  Native English Speaker. Knowledge of the Spanish language a plus.

Core and Technical Competencies:

  • Superior organizational and logistical skills, with ability to anticipate deadlines, address and prioritize a wide range of issues and activities for timely completion; a proven ability to take initiative and work independently, and to work in a dynamic fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent writing and document drafting skills, including for technical and policy documents, with considerable focus on attention to details. A proven ability to write brief, clear and analytical reports and concise discussion notes.
  • A high degree of integrity and commitment to achieving results through teamwork; a strong willingness and a proven ability to work cross-sectorally and in partnership with government, donors, and private companies; and ability to earn the trust of peers
  • Proven ability to work effectively in complex, multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams; strong inter-personal skills, client-orientation, diplomatic skills, and judgment as well as sensitivity to social and cultural issues.

Opportunity Summary: 

  • Type of contract: Consultancy
  • Length of contract: 1 year, renewable depending on performance
  • Location: IDB Country office in Kingston, Jamaica.

Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.

Payment and Conditions: Compensation will be determined in accordance with Bank’s policies and procedures. The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may contribute toward travel and moving expenses. In addition, candidates must be citizens of an IDB member country.


Visa and Work Permit: The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may submit a visa request to the applicable immigration authorities; however, the granting of the visa is at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Notwithstanding, it is the responsibility of the candidate to obtain the necessary visa or work permits required by the authorities of the country(ies) in which the services will be rendered to the Bank. If a candidate cannot obtain a visa or work permit to render services to the Bank the contractual offer will be rescinded.


Consanguinity: Pursuant to applicable Bank policy, candidates with relatives (including the fourth degree of consanguinity and the second degree of affinity, including spouse) working for the IDB, IDB Invest, or MIF as staff members or Complementary Workforce contractuals, will not be eligible to provide services for the Bank.
