ITE/ITO Data Engineer Consultant

 

Background of this search: The ITE/ITO Data Management team is looking for a Data Engineer professional with a technical background and experience on data warehousing, big data, cloud platforms, scripting and ETL/ELT. The consultant will be tasked with identifying issues and designing solutions that fit within the overall business logic, architecture and governance of the Data Management cloud platform and IDB’s strategy.

 

The team’s mission: The ITE/ITO Data Management team provides system analysis, design and development of data warehouse models and ETL processes to automate data extraction/transformation/loading and participates in the technical support and documentation of the new subject areas from Operational and Corporate streams of implementation in EDW. At the same time, the team leads the Data Governance, Quality and Cloud Data Platform initiatives leveraging the latest technologies available.

 

What you’ll do: Organize key responsibilities with bullet points (between 4-6), use clear and simple sentences to describe exactly what the person will do (quantify as much as possible).

• Assume ownership of the requirements collection, design and delivery of new data models, including data warehouse solutions and ETL process, for various projects.

• Provide guidance to support team on current financial and operational warehouse solutions.

• Data mapping processes review and documentation. 

• Support the data asset inventory organization wide.

• Support impact assessment of new warehouse releases.

• Define best practices for data integration design, development and implementation including architectural and element naming standards and conventions.

• Performs data source analysis and data dictionary administration.

• Design and build ETLs and data pipelines leveraging latest technologies

• Defines dimensional models in support of analytical requirements; star schema, snowflake designs; as well as data lakes for real time analytics.

• Participates in data quality assessments and data governance initiatives.

• Provide expertise in modeling operational data stores, staging areas, central repositories and data marts. Data modeling competency would include both 3NF and dimensional modeling techniques as well as business rules modeling expertise.

• Transforming business requirements into logical data models with focus on metadata strategy and architecture.

• Design, architect and execute Advanced Analytics strategies to improve IDB’s infrastructure and capacity to perform this kind of projects.

• Provide support and guidance to specialists and key stakeholders regarding analytics and data related subjects

 

What you’ll need:

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.

Education: BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Minimum 2 years work experience in the Information Technology field.

- Experience in building production grade data architectures leveraging the latest cloud and on-prom technologies.

- Working knowledge of data storage and processing formats for data integration and data warehousing solutions.

- Experience with NoSQL databases like DynamoDB, CosmosDB or MongoDB as well as SQL databases like Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2.

- Solid understanding of SQL and SQL optimization techniques.

- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures and deep data analytics using machine learning libraries and BI tools.

- Software development experience using Java, Scala, Python and other scripting languages like Perl, Linux, PHP, Ruby, R.

- Good documentation skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Must be able to work in a fast-paced agile development environment.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation, commitment and the ability to work in an international team and across hierarchical levels are indispensable.

- Proven ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment and in a context of dynamic change.

- Proficiency in written and oral English is required.

Core and Technical Competencies:

•             Scripting and Analytics tools: Python, R, Spark, AWS SageMaker, Azure Data Bricks

•             Data Integration tool: IBM Information Server suite, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue & Athena

•             Databases and storage platforms: DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, CosmosDB, DynamoDB, S3

•             Data Virtualization: Denodo

•             Denormalization, Abstraction and other Data warehousing modeling techniques

•             Very good teamwork and communication skills

•             Technical writing ability

•             Experience working with Finance, Treasury and Risk systems is a plus (not required)
