Qualifications:

Education: Have a master's degree in economics, agricultural economics, development economics, public policy, agronomy, natural resources, forestry, or other related fields. A Ph.D. in any of those fields is preferred.

Experience: At least 5 years of experience leading the design and supervision of public sector loan operations for specific projects, policy-based loans and results-based loans. Specific experience leading multi-sector projects is a plus.

Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English is required; Knowledge of Portuguese and/or French will be considered an advantage.

Requirements:

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.

About this position:

The team: The Environment, Rural Dev & Disaster Risk Management Division seeks to accelerate the sustainable development of rural societies in Latin America and the Caribbean by promoting their economic growth in an environmentally sustainable manner, improving food security, increasing rural incomes, and reducing poverty.

Given the great socioeconomic importance of agriculture in rural areas of the region, we emphasize helping small producers to develop, adapt to changing climatic conditions, and reduce environmental impact, promoting sustainable use of land and other natural resources.

Rural development encompasses various economic sectors and interacts with urban areas, constituting territories that have specific characteristics and challenges. That's why we work across sectoral boundaries, forging coalitions and contributing to multisectoral solutions to achieve our development goals.

  • Start date: as soon as possible (negotiable)
  • Reports to: RND Division Chief
  • Location: Country Office in Bogota, Colombia

WHAT WE OFFER

Contract type and duration: International staff contract, 3 years initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.

Compensation: competitive / base salary for the grade (net of income taxes)

Vacations: 24 days + 8 personal days
