The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is the leading source of multilateral financing for regional development in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). It provides loans, grants, guarantees, policy advice and technical assistance to the public and private sectors of its borrowing member countries. 


The Team:
The Integration and Trade Sector (INT) of the Vice-Presidency for Sectors and Knowledge (VPS) supports LAC integration into the global economy and regional integration and cooperation through lending operations, technical assistance and applied economic and sector work. Aligned to these efforts, INT supports the technical implementation of international trade and investment through a series of annual conferences and events with relevant clients and partners from the public and private sectors; as well as through two key INT initiatives: (i) Connectamericas, the largest business community online that promotes the internationalization of small and medium enterprises of LAC; and (ii) the Americas Business Dialogue (ABD), a Public-Private dialogue aimed at facilitating economic growth and development in the Americas;


What will you do:



  • Develop applied and innovative technical inputs to support INT’s trade and investment fora agenda and its operative work program.

  • Provide technical inputs and advice to ensure a proper alignment between INT’s trade and investment fora programming and its operative agenda. 

  • Coordinate the technical implementation of trade and investment fora carried out by INT on a regular basis (i.e., Outsource2LAC, LAC Flavors, CEO Summit of the Americas), as well as demand driven fora and SME business matchmaking meetings.  

  • Identify and foster business opportunities generated as a result of INT’s trade and investment fora activity to advance its operative work program. This includes creating new partnerships and strengthening existing relationships with public and private clients and donors.

  • Coordinate the linkage between INT’s special initiatives such as Connectamericas and ABD with its operations, especially in their preparation and design phases, primarily through surveys, data analysis and other quantitative tools.

  • Provide technical support throughout the different phases of the operation’s project cycle to offer innovative approaches in the areas of trade and investment that effectively contribute to fulfill the needs of INT’s private and public clients and partners in LAC.

  • Develop dialogue with counterparts to increase the impact of programs in the region.

  • Promote collaboration with other divisions and departments of the Bank Group, prioritizing activities that are conducive to INT’s strategic goals and work program.



What you will need:

Education: Master's Degree or equivalent (i.e. licenciatura degree from a 5-year full-time program) in economics, finance, business administration, public policy, law or related fields.
Experience: At least 4 years of professional experience in the fields of international trade, investment attraction, and/or investment promotion, and proven expertise in organizing complex and relevant public and private conferences and events related to investment attraction and/or promotion.
Sector Knowledge: Proven expertise in international trade, trade facilitation and investment promotion issues.
Language: Proficiency in English and Spanish.
