Integration and Trade Sector (INT)


The Integration and Trade Sector (INT) provides a wide-range of products to support the integration, trade and investment agenda of our region through; (i) the design, preparation and execution of an operational pipeline and portfolio of financial operations (loans, technical assistance, and operational inputs); (ii) support to strategic integration initiatives within the region and with external strategic partners in the Americas, Europe and Asia; (iii) support to the Public-Private development and integration agenda in the region (through initiatives such as ConnectAmericas, the Americas Business Dialogue and the organization of major international trade and investment fora); (iv) high-level policy dialogues and applied policy research on issues related to trade, investment and integration; and (v) expert technical assistance and capacity building.

The team: 

INT’s Front Office (IFO) provides operational and corporate support to the Sector’s areas in their everyday activities and responsibilities to carry out INT’s work program and accomplish planned objectives and goals. IFO’s operative team assist the Trade and Investment Division and the Regional Integration Unit of INT, in all the design and execution phases of their operations, as well as in the monitoring of their pipeline and portfolio. 

What you will do:

  • Support INT’s operational teams in the preparation and execution processes of integration and trade operations (loans and TCs).
  • Collaborate and support INT’s operational teams in the monitoring and reviewing processes of their pipeline and portfolio to ensure compliance with IDB guidelines and policies. 
  • Perform a regular follow-up in the different stages of the operation’s life cycle, alert about possible delays, provide recommendations, and produce analytical reports on the status of the operational program and its portfolio.
  • Conduct quality review of operational documents during the project approval phase to ensure that they meet quality standards of the Bank and verifying that timing and contents are following the Bank procedures for the processing of operations and with the Bank's operational policies.
  • Provide inputs, recommendations, and feedback to INT’s operational teams while conducting the quality reviews stated above to increase policy compliance and timely delivery of products and outputs.
  • Provide support to INT’s operational teams in reviewing operational and corporate documents related to new (or modifications to existing) lending instruments and/or operational programs, among others.
  • Support INT’s operational teams in coordinating and elaborating INT’s knowledge and operational products on regional integration issues, with a multisectoral approach.
  • Provide advice and guidance to INT’s operational teams in properly applying operational Bank policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate and support INT’s teams in processing operations and other approval flows through the Bank’s systems, especially Convergence.
  • Participate as the Sector’s Focal Point for the Project Completion Report (PCR) process by assisting INT’s teams during the operation’s closing process following the Bank’s PCR guidelines 
  • Participate in a broad range of other activities providing research, and technical and operational support, as requested by the Sector Manager.

Education: Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Law, International Development, International Relations, Public Policy, Government or other related fields.

Experience and other requirements: you have at least 7 years of experience in supporting teams in quality assurance, and in the preparation and supervision of projects financed by Multilateral Development Banks or international development agencies. Knowledge of IDB Group operation lifecycle and compliance requirements is essential. Excellent written, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner and work effectively with others. Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and perform well under pressure. You should also be able to demonstrate a strong expertise in the rest of the activities related to the key responsibilities of the position.

Languages: You are proficient in both oral and written English and Spanish. Knowledge of another Bank official language (French or Portuguese) is a plus.
