Skills you’ll need:
  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Accounting, Agronomy, or Environmental Sciences. Experience in areas related to the management of development projects, or enterprise finance is a plus. Capable of providing technical guidance to clients in various sectors on innovations and the use of technology, effective communication skills (written and verbal), and skilled at capturing knowledge regarding outcomes, critical success factors, challenges, and risks. 
  • Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience, as project coordinator, investment officer, or officer responsible for project design and technical supervision during implementation, results monitoring, and management of projects and programs aimed at developing the private sector and financed by bilateral or multilateral development institutions, non-governmental organizations, public entities, or financial institutions.
  • Language:  Fluent in French and Creole. Proficiency in English and/or Spanish, both oral and written.

  • Proven ability and flexibility to work on a variety of tasks, meet deadlines, provide quality outputs, and attend to details while maintaining an overview of IDB Lab priorities.
  • High degree of professional integrity, discretion, and sensitivity in dealing with internal and external clients at all levels. Ability to manage complex relationships.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and ability to convey complex messages succinctly and diplomatically.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and solution orientation, willing to work as part of a team and to reach out to others to help achieve high-quality results.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with private sector actors and key players in the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem in Haiti.
  • Ability to deliver well-organized and professional reports, presentations and other forms of communication.
  • Passion for innovation and development.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, web savvy especially in the use of digital communication tools and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook.
 
Opportunity Summary
 
  • Type of contract Consultant
  • Contract Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension to 36 months
  • Place(s) of work: Port au Prince, Haiti
  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of Haiti or of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries with working permit to reside in Haiti, and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.   
  • Supervisor: Chief of Discovery Unit in IDB Headquarters and Haiti Country Office Representative.

Payment and Conditions of Employment: Remuneration will be determined in accordance with Bank regulations and criteria. The Bank may additionally contribute toward travel and moving expenses, if applicable. If a candidate is not a citizen or resident of the country where he/she will be working, the Bank will assist him/her to obtain the corresponding visa or work permit (if applicable). If a candidate cannot obtain a visa to work at the IDB the contractual offer will be canceled.

 

Visa and Work Permit: The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may submit a visa request to the applicable immigration authorities; however, the granting of the visa is at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Notwithstanding, it is the responsibility of the candidate to obtain the necessary visa or work permits required by the authorities of the country(ies) in which the services will be rendered to the Bank. If a candidate cannot obtain a visa or work permit to render services to the Bank the contractual offer will be rescinded

 

Consanguinity: Individuals with relatives working for the IDB within and including the fourth degree of consanguinity and the second degree of affinity are not eligible for employment as staff or contractual. Candidates must be citizens of a member country of the Inter-American Development Bank.
