Skills you’ll need:


Education:  Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or related fields.  

 

Experience: At least five years of relevant experience in loan/equity/guarantee origination, structuring or portfolio management with a proven track-record working with both equity and debt.  Relevant experience in supervising equity investments (direct or though funds) is required, in particularly understanding and analysis of financial projections, audited statements, and participation in shareholders, board of directors or investment committee meetings.

 

Also required is experience in investment projects related to climate smart agriculture, climate adaptation/resilience, green finance and/or carbon reduction. Candidates should be able to understand and oversee the quantification of the facility’s environmental benefits (mitigation and adaptation) and associated co-benefits (biodiversity, ecosystem services).  Understanding of client needs and challenges, of different country/regional areas, market idiosyncrasies, and drivers of change in Latin America and the Caribbean. Proven solid experience in a similar role in an investment firm or development financial institution would be highly desirable, as well as experience in the preparation of development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is required.

 

Core and Technical Competencies:

 

Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with strong attention to detail and strong financial modeling/valuation skills; (ii) strong organization and writing skills; (iii) ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure; (iv) demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity in the workplace. The candidate should also be motivated and highly effective in a team environment. Knowledge of IDB LAB/Bank processes is a plus.

 
Opportunity Summary
 
Consultancy Category & Modality: Full time consultant.

Contract Duration: 12 months with possibility to extend to up to 36 months.

Place(s) of work: IDB Office in Mexico City

Responsible person: Chief, IDB Lab Loan and Equity Unit (LEU).

Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
