What you’ll need:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of Brazil or a citizen of one of our 48 member countries with legal or residence permit to work in Brazil.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: A degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or similar studies.
  • Experience:  Required: Minimum three (3) years’ experience with exposure to the Brazilian innovation ecosystem and entrepreneurship (e.g., accelerators, tech centers, entrepreneurship centers, venture capital industry, etc.). Experience in managing projects and/or monitoring of programs with innovation partners, including designing activities, convening key actors, forging partnerships, managing budgets and procurement.  Preferred: Familiarity with financial analysis, such as loans and venture capital deals, project finance, and the analysis of financial statements, and with the supervision of investments and loans. Deep knowledge of the innovation ecosystem and entrepreneurship in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil.
  • Languages: Fluency in Portuguese and English is required. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

Core and Technical Competencies

  • Experience with development-oriented innovation projects—operations that seek to utilize private-sector driven innovation to generate positive social and environmental impacts and financial returns, including operations that focus on building private ecosystems for innovation and impact.
  • Specific expertise and knowledge in technology and innovation are a plus (e.g., fintech, attach, healthiest, or other topics that emphasize tech-driven innovation).
  • Needs to be results-oriented, hard-working, results-driven, client-focused, flexible and have business acumen.
  • Experience with relationship building, managing multiple stakeholders and team building.

Opportunity Summary:

  • Type of contract and modality:  Consultant full time
  • Length of contract:  12 months
  • Location: Sao Paulo, Brazil.
  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of Brazil or of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries with working permit to reside in Brazil, and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
  • Responsible person: IDB Lab Unit Chief of Discovery and IDB Representative in Brazil. The consultant will coordinate day-to-day activities with the designated IDB Lab Specialist and also coordinate, as needed, with designated specialists from different IDB Group windows (IDB and IDB Invest sector specialists and KIC’s innovation team in Brazil).
  • Requirements: The candidate must be a citizen of Brazil; or be a citizen of one of the Bank’s member countries and have permission to work in Brazil.
