IDB Invest - Paralegal Consultant - USA or Country Office

Skills you´ll need:

Education: You hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. You have knowledge and substantive legal experience in both Civil and Common law systems.

Experience: You have at least 3+ years of relevant professional legal experience preferably in transactional work.

Language: You are proficient (oral and written) in at least 2 official languages of IDB Invest (English, Spanish, Portuguese and French), with knowledge of Spanish preferred.

Other: You have excellent organizational skills, including record-keeping and project planning, with a strong results orientation, and high level of attention to detail. You have proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office suite products (e.g. Power Point, Excel and Word).

In addition to the above, you should have demonstrated professional experience in complex cross-border commercial transactions in one of the following areas:

• Energy and infrastructure project finance, including power, transport, water and/or social infrastructure projects; and/or
• Corporate finance transactions in the agribusiness, manufacturing, telecommunications and/or tourism sectors.

Opportunity Summary: 

Type of contract: Consultant

Length of Contract: 19 months, renewable at the sole discretion of IDB Invest   

Starting date: February 1^st, 2020

Location: Washington DC, USA or at one of the IDB Group Country Offices (Jamaica, Panama, Colombia or Argentina) at the discretion of IDB Invest and availability.

Requirements: You must have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.

Payment and Conditions: Compensation will be determined in accordance with Bank’s policies and procedures. The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may contribute toward travel and moving expenses. In addition, candidates must be citizens of an IDB member country.

Visa and Work Permit: The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may submit a visa request to the applicable immigration authorities; however, the granting of the visa is at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Notwithstanding, it is the responsibility of the candidate to obtain the necessary visa or work permits required by the authorities of the country(ies) in which the services will be rendered to the Bank. If a candidate cannot obtain a visa or work permit to render services to the Bank the Consultant offer will be rescinded

Consanguinity: Pursuant to applicable Bank policy, candidates with relatives (including the fourth degree of consanguinity and the second degree of affinity, including spouse) working for the IDB, IDB Invest, or MIF as staff members or Complementary Workforce Consultants, will not be eligible to provide services for the Bank.
