IDB Invest Local Funding Solutions Officer

Would you like to use your analytical and quantitative skills and experience to contribute to the economic and social development of Latin America and the Caribbean?

Background: The Finance and Administration Department (FNA) Department is responsible for the administration of IDB Invest’s financial resources. FNA contributes to the institutional mandate supporting the investment in the development of Latin America and the Caribbean region, through the services provided by its Controllership, Communications, Financial Operations, and Treasury teams.

The team: You will be part of a high-energy and creative team within the Treasury Division (TRS). We are presently looking for a motivated and experienced professional with significant financial markets’ experience to join our Local Funding Solutions team activities.

You will be responsible for pricing and executing local currency and interest rate derivatives, and bond transactions (denominated in various currencies) in accordance with policy and guidelines.

What you will do:

  • Recommend most suitable solution to fund deals following local markets conditions and available financial products for transactions in the Region.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other areas (such as Finance, Legal, Risk, and Operations) to craft innovative solutions to meet funding sourcing needs.
  • Analyze, price, negotiate, execute and record debt capital markets and derivatives transactions for the back-to-back funding of development related assets in various local currencies.
  • Research and keep abreast of capital markets developments in the Region. Prepare market assessments and reports. Develop the necessary toolkits for interest rate and cross currency swap trading in LAC.
  • Analyze credit risk and request approval for trading with banks and non-rated counterparties.
  • Collaborate with the development and deployment of analytical tools and models for strengthening Treasury’s capability for quantitative analysis.
  • Build and maintain a sound relationship with clients, teammates, banks, counterparties and other internal/external parties.
  • Participate as “subject matter authority” in the testing and implementation of new systems related to Treasury activities.
  • Identify technology, infrastructure, and process gaps, as well as recommend actions to minimize operational risks.

Skills you will need:

Education: You hold a master’s degree or equivalent (i.e. licienciatura degree from a 5-year full-time program or CFA) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields, with knowledge of financial markets and products.

Experience: You have at least 5 years of relevant experience; previous experience with interest rate or cross-currency swaps; experience with Bloomberg; a successful track record of achieving high quality results and delivering valuable services to meet team and departmental objectives. You have knowledge and/or experience in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC or the Region). A clear understanding of the operational frameworks of public sector and/or multi-laterals is desired.    

Languages: You are fluent (oral and written) in English and in a second IDB Group official language (Spanish, Portuguese or French). Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
