Information Technology Officer- IT Business Partner

We are looking for an Information Technology Business Partner with proven expertise in the delivery of business services and solutions with partner departments from across the IDB Invest.  You will be part of a high-performing team in the Information Technology Group, acting as the connection between the business units and the IT department to provide the most effective solutions for information and business process needs, that align with the overall strategies. You will work under the supervision of the Head of Information Technology.

Our Team:

The role of our Division is to unleash and coordinate the generation, collection, organization, analysis, dissemination, and use of IDB Invest’s operational, institutional, and business insights and intellectual capital. It does so in ways that allow the organization to become more strategic, effective, efficient and accountable. The Division is composed of three core teams: (i) Business Analytics (ii) Knowledge and Intellectual Capital and (iii) Information Technology.

What you will do:

  • Develop and maintain the IT business plan and ensure it aligns with the overall IT strategy.

  • Ensure definition, prioritization, and delivery of the IT needs, as well as high level approach (including development of project charters, expected value, risks, and resource requirements) in collaboration with the requisite IT tower.

  • Engage with delivery leads throughout project implementation to align functional resources with IT delivery and support activities.

  • Exhibit thought leadership on industry trends and innovation opportunities to translate business requirements into IT projects that deliver future capabilities.

  • Provide detailed, accurate, and timely updates on current activities to all stakeholders. Ensure proper engagement with IT, through communication and change management.

  • Maintain customer service focus with the ability to actively listen, elicit information, comprehend issues/needs, and recommend solutions.

  • Assist the business with development of business cases and prioritization.

  • Identify solutions and improvements aimed to maximize impact on operational and corporate Business Processes.

  • Facilitate and may lead, the delivery of solutions on time and within scope and budget and compatible with IDB Invest’s standards. Help monitor status of solutions, evaluate post implementations, and document lessons learned.

  • Actively promote best practices replication within and or outside the assigned Department.

  • Proactively identify, manage, and resolve coordination challenges with Business Units and ITG.

  • Engage and influence at all levels of the organization and articulate IT vision in a bi-directional manner. Reinforce how the IT vision can become a driver of business value. Educate leaders on technology strategy, trends, and how this relates to their business objectives. Serve as extended member of the business leadership team.

  • Collaborate with peers on the intake process and prioritization of potential projects across IDB Invest.

  • Apply project management best practices in the implementation of agreed-upon solutions for Business Units.

  • Understand, recommend, and apply new and innovative business processes and technologies to meet the strategic needs of the departments, while ensuring compatibility with the Bank’s existing applications, infrastructure, and security requirements.

  • Provide advice/expertise in change management and innovation implementation methodologies.

  • Provide technical guidance, mentor and/or coach others.


Skills you will need:

  • You must have strong interpersonal skills to work in a high performing team both within ITG and with outside clients/partners of the IDB group. In addition, you should have the following skills/abilities:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Confident, professional, and effective presentation and interaction with senior management.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Exhibit a high tolerance for rapid change.

  • Develop and share knowledge about solutions, procedures, and tools.

  • Critical thinking and good judgment.

  • Capacity to learn and understand business processes and needs.

  • Ability to facilitate dialogue by bridging the gap between technology and the business areas

Education: You hold a master’s degree (or equivalent) Information Technology, Business Administration, or related area.


Experience:  You have at least 6 years of relevant experience and preferably multicultural environments delivering business technology services and solutions. Advanced level knowledge of Agile and Design Thinking Methodologies is desirable.

Certifications: Project Management Professional Certification is desirable.

Languages: You are fluent in written and oral in both English and Spanish; Knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus.
