IDB Invest – Marketing Consultant – Investment Operations Department

Background: The Investment Operations Department is responsible for generating a portfolio of high quality, creditworthy, and environmentally and socially sound projects that result in significant developmental impact. The business cycle goes from the identification, selection, origination, structuring and execution of transactions to their monitoring. The Department follows a matrix model, with three segment divisions covering Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Institutions and Corporates, and three transversal divisions covering Financial Products and Services, Advisory Services and Portfolio Management. In addition, there are two teams in staff of the Chief Investment Officer, responsible for: (i) Marketing and (ii) Business Strategy, Planning and Resources respectively.

 

The Team: The Marketing Team is responsible for managing several key initiatives within the Department related to strategic analysis, client strategy, contents creation, business management models, and monitoring tools that support our client acquisition and engagement efforts. The selected candidate will be responsible for Marketing and content creation efforts related to external audiences on strategic business topics.

 

What you will do: You will work with our Corporates segment -Agribusiness, Telecommunications, Media, and Technology (TMT), Tourism, and Manufacturing- to define and implement the yearly strategic Marketing Plan for these sectors and be their point of contact for Marketing efforts. A service-based approach to identify needs and opportunities to better market the strengths of IDB Invest´s value proposition is expected.

 

As part of this role the consultant will focus on the following activities:  

 

Planning and reporting

  • Define and implement the Marketing strategy to support the business strategy to generate more business opportunities.
  • Keep an updated content and Marketing activities calendar for the specific Division and Teams supported.
  • Perform follow up activities ensuring the content creation and activities calendar planned execution. 

Content development

  • Identify contents and plan Marketing campaigns accordingly to showcase remarkable initiatives for business sectors.
  • Develop project snapshots and case studies, as well as coordinate infographics and videos to highlight the key features of our transactions, industry trends, and impact stories to reach relevant audiences.
  • Provide support to the business teams to write first drafts of Blog posts, articles, and other written materials to support the positioning strategy.
  • Perform short research to generate contents and leverage on existing written materials.
  • Standardize, centralize, and continuously update key messages within the assigned line of business.
  • Support the business and technical teams in the process of developing specialized reports and knowledge to leverage business development activities.
  • Propose ideas for new content development to support Marketing Plan goals.
  • Coordinate external agencies and freelances to generate content and Marketing products.
 Develop, maintain, and improve Marketing materials to support origination activity
  • Develop and maintain relevant Marketing support tools for clients such as factsheets, pitchbooks, tombstones digital books, team Bios, etc.
  • Periodically update and improve materials that showcase business expertise and track record. 
Dissemination
  • Jointly with business teams, define and execute Marketing campaigns to promote business content through our corporate channels such as blogs, website, social media, etc.
  • To write and coordinate internally and with clients the press releases for new projects and provide support as needed to facilitate active media pitches in close coordination with IDB Knowledge and Communications Sector (KIC).
  • In coordination with the IDB Invest’s Institutional Communications Team, ensure the alignment of available communication channels/platforms for IDB Invest to the Marketing Strategy for the specific Division and Teams supported.

Events support and market awards

  • Provide support in the coordination and preparation of relevant events with clients, partners, and donors in alignment with IDB Invest Marketing Strategy.
  • Actively seek to improve market recognition and awareness through relevant awards recognizing IDB Invest operational capabilities.
Measure
  • Prepare monthly results report measuring our Marketing efforts to adjust the strategies using different tools such as Salesforce, Brandwatch, TrackMaven, etc
What you will need:
 

Citizenship: If you are not a citizen or work permit holder of United States of America, we may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Education: Master’s degree in journalism, Communications, International Relations, Public Affairs, Marketing, Business Administration, Political Science, or another related field.

Experience: At least eight (8) years of relevant professional experience in any of our priority areas, content manager or marketing/communications officer. Specific knowledge and track record in topics related to any of our core thematic priorities (Infrastructure and Energy, Corporates, Financial Intermediaries, Financial Products and Advisory Services related to sustainability topics such as Gender, Diversity and Inclusion and Climate Change) is highly valuable for this position. Experience in working with CRMs, specifically with Salesforce and its Marketing tools is needed.

Languages: Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish is required; knowledge of Portuguese or French is a plus.
