The Investment Operations Department (INO) is responsible for generating a portfolio of high quality, creditworthy, and environmentally and socially sound projects that result in significant development impact. The business cycle goes from the identification, selection, origination, structuring and execution of transactions to their monitoring. INO follows a matrix model, with three segment divisions covering Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Institutions and Corporates, and three transversal divisions covering Financial Products and Services, Advisory Services and Portfolio Management.


The Infrastructure and Energy Division (IEN) is organized in three geographic teams covering (i) Andean countries, (ii) Southern Cone countries, and (iii) Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean countries. Within each of those teams, Investment Officers (“IOs”) cover four main sectors: Transport, Water and Sanitation, Energy and Social Infrastructure (Education & Health). Our Division maintains, as deemed necessary, the responsibilities for customer relationships and product specialist’s engagement in areas such as debt capital markets, equity and quasi-equity instruments, as well as resource mobilization and technical cooperation.


What you will do


You will focus on providing operational support to Project Team Leaders in relation to the following activities:


  • Participate in the drafting and proofreading of operational documents such as Investment Proposal, Board Proposal ensuring their compliance with internal policies and procedures.

  • Prepare draft of Non-Objection Letter and Project Brief for Project Team Leader’s revision and coordinated their internal processing.

  • Follow up to dates in Maestro and operating systems, to ensure that they are in accordance with the operations schedule.

  • Produce the Project´s disclosure with information reviewed by the Investment Officer and the SEG Officer and ensure compliance with the IDB Invest policies.

  • Perform data analysis using Power BI and prepare Pipeline presentations, documents, and other initiatives of Infrastructure and Energy Division. 

  • Review the operations documentation to guarantee the quality of the final product and accurate application of relevant guidelines.

  • Collect Operational Data and prepare documents and reports as needed.

  • Produce internal documentation required for operations processing and other communications.

  • Provide guidance to professional and support staff in HQ and Country Offices on the preparation, scheduling, and processing of operational documents throughout IDB Invest’s project cycle to obtain approval.

  • Focal point for Project Team in the request of individual and firm contracts by gathering, organizing, and processing documentation for the contracting of contractual.  Including launching of RFP.

  • Assist in administrative requirements related to operations, as needed.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Education: Associate’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field. Bachelor’s degree will be considered a plus.

Experience: You have at least four (4) years of relevant professional experience. Experience in a similar role in IDB Group or another multilateral development bank will be considered a plus. Proficiency in text processing software, spreadsheet and database programs (Microsoft Office and PowerBI) is required. An advanced level of Microsoft Excel, including dynamic tables, would be a plus. Strong organizational capability with an ability to carry out multiple and detailed tasks. Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to take initiative to assist others and share knowledge and information.

Languages: You are proficient in oral and written English and Spanish; knowledge of French or Portuguese is a plus.
