Human Resources Principal Specialist


 
Background: The Human Resources Department (HRD) is responsible for the administration and development of the human resources in the IDB Group (IDBG). It also oversees the implementation of the “Human Capital Strategy”, building and implementing programs and methodologies in direct support of our results-based business model, and focusing on the development of the Bank’s talent and technical skills’ capacity.

The team: The IDBG HR business aligned team provides direct services to the private sector focused arm of the IDBG, IDB Invest, to support the entire employee lifecycle from hiring to retirement (e.g., recruitment, hiring, career development, performance management, rewards and recognition, compensation, benefit services and payroll).
The successful candidate will exercise leadership in the design and execution of IDB Invest’s organizational and talent strategy, being a trusted business advisor and strategic partner to actively address business needs related to talent management. In coordination with HRD Divisions, you will set the direction for the overall administration of HR programs and services rendered to IDB Invest to align the overall business strategy and structure with talent to drive an inspiring culture to achieve organizational goals.

What you’ll do:

 

  • Establish a strong relationship with the Senior Management Team and functional leaders on the business strategy, bringing an outside-in HR perspective and understanding client expectations.
  • Ensure that strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the organization. Coach and guide managers to guarantee a robust governance structure.
  • Partner with IDB Invest leaders to identify the right organizational design as well as the needed human capital capabilities to enhance business performance.
  • Demonstrate an ability to design, update and apply HR programs to support business needs and strategic direction.
  • Advise and present insights garnered through analysis and data driven assessments in a way that supports the leadership of IDB Invest and HRD in its decision-making processes.
  • Facilitate strategic conversations with the leadership team to plan their talent pipeline requirements in line with their business strategy.
  • Identify required critical capabilities for the future, formulates and implement plans to fill in gaps at the organizational and individual levels. Drive the talent agenda to build a leadership pipeline for critical roles.
  • Partner with the broader HRD ecosystem and Divisions to craft strategic initiatives and programs (e.g. leadership development, Diversity and Inclusion, among others) and drive their successful roll out in alignment with the IDBG Human Capital Strategy.
  • Update the total rewards package to enable the attraction, motivation, and retention of the best talent.
  • Advise on the implementation, communication, and change management for new or changed HR policies.
  • Strive for efficiencies and consistency in HR services, using technology and group resources.
  • Provide thought leadership and direction to the HR Business Partners, Human Capital Lead, and more junior team members. Assess the quality of outputs, achievement of goals, and annual objectives for the business aligned team.

Skills you’ll need:

 

Education: You hold a Master's degree or equivalent-level Licenciatura/advanced degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, organizational development, or another related field.

 

Experience: At least 10 years of professional experience in HR management or consulting in a multinational environment. A proven track record in building high performing teams with client service orientation is needed, plus:

  • Strong technical background, including extensive knowledge of leading-edge HR programs, systems, and practices.
  • Ability to bring innovative and workable concepts and ideas to meet client’s needs, translating them into policies, processes and systems.
  • Strong eye for business and clear understanding of market trends, competition, and culture. 
  • Ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to drive continual improvements in strategic objectives, productivity, and development.
  • Experience in interlocution with CEOs and Management Committees and ability to build strong partnerships with leaders.
  • Ability to have a “big picture” perspective but also able to design, implement, and lead complex processes from a strategic and operational perspective.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to quickly establish and maintain trust and credibility with all partners. Sound judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Collaborative team oriented person who can inspire trust and passion in the IDBG’s mission, establish productive relationships, and treat all individuals with fairness and respect.

Requirements: Candidates must be citizens of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
