About this Position
The Head of Global Fora Group will coordinate the IDB Group’s strategic engagement with major global fora including but not limited to G20, G7, APEC, Heads of MDBs Group, OECD, Regional forums, under the leadership of the Manager of the Global Partnerships Office. This pivotal role demands strong leadership to ensure cohesive participation, align with institutional strategies, and enhance the IDB Group's impact in international development discussions.
What You’ll Do
Stakeholder Liaison and Engagement with Global Fora
- Actively engage with global fora’s stakeholders, including counterparts at international organizations, governments, and independent subject expert groups.
- Develop and maintain a solid network of contacts that facilitates the influencing of stakeholders and capturing of crucial intelligence.
Collaboration with the Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) System:
- Coordinate and facilitate participation in MDB-related meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes, ensuring that efforts are aligned and effective.
- Lead and engage in constructive dialogue to enhance coordination efforts with peer MDBs, ensuring strategic and impactful collaboration.
Support for Advocacy:
- Identify and report back ion international resolutions that may involve IDB institutional positions and priorities and develop strategies to mitigate potential adverse impacts.
- Advocate for IDB’s institutional positions and priorities in global fora. Influence and shape global resolutions to advance the priorities of the IDB and the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region.
- Provide strategic support to senior management in external advocacy by preparing insightful briefings and presentations, suggested lines of action, and talking points.
- Prepare and edit minutes and reports from significant meetings and events to ensure clear communication and follow-up on commitments.
Internal Coordination:
- Facilitate alignment of priorities among IDB departments participating in MDBs and other global forums.
- Identify and propose resolution strategies for areas of overlap or conflict among involved departments, fostering collaboration and shared responsibility.
- Harmonize messaging to ensure coherent communication across the IDBG to stakeholders.
Cross-Pollination of Ideas and Opportunities:
- Request, consolidate, and provide feedback on various papers, reports, and presentations emerging from global fora fostering an environment for sharing expertise and innovative ideas.
Communication Opportunities:
- Identify and prepare relevant materials for senior management that can be used in social media, press releases, and blogs to enhance the IDBG’s visibility and influence in global discussions. Be proactive in identifying communicational opportunities to advance the IDB and LAC agenda.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track IDBG’s commitments and monitor progress in critical areas such as the G20 MDB Roadmap or Capital Adequacy Framework, Heads of MDBs’ Viewpoint Note, and others for senior management.
- Supervise adherence to established guidelines and policies to ensure consistent execution of global fora-related activities across the IDBG.
Planning and Coordination of Events:
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and management of all MDB and RDB Heads meetings hosted by the IDB, including Sherpas calls.
- Facilitate IDB top management participation in global fora events, supervising logistics and debriefings (such as registration, accreditation, agenda-setting, bilateral meetings, talking points, event briefings, among others).
Knowledge Management:
- Develop and implement an effective knowledge management strategy to capture and disseminate relevant information, including frameworks, principles, resolutions, and best practices.
- Ensure timely access to information that maximizes institutional learning and capacity building across the IDBG.
What You'll Need
- Education: Master’s degree in economics, business administration, international relations, development studies, or other related field.
- Experience: At least 10 years of proven experience related to the key responsibilities of the position.
- Strong understanding of current global fora dynamics and landscape. Knowledge of the multilateral sector and/or international cooperation is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills that allow you to establish and maintain trust and credibility with institutional partners, at all levels across the IDB Group.
- Have critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective monitoring of metrics and results.
- Languages: Proficiency in English is required and in Spanish desired. Additional knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus.

Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
- International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
