What you’ll need:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents. 
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change Adaptation, Risk Modeling, Information Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years but 8 years highly desired of relevant professional experience with climate adaptation, resilience and disaster risk management; experience in managing data systems (i.e., GIS); experience in multi-hazard risk assessments; experience in engineering and infrastructure projects; and relevant work experience with projects in multilateral or bilateral cooperation institutions.
  • Languages:  Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish.

Core and Technical Competencies:

The consultant must have the following competencies in:

  • Planning and Organizational Skills: Demonstrated organizational capability and ability to carry out multiple and detailed tasks and demonstrated capacity to operate with minimal supervision.
  • Teamwork: Ability to take initiative and lead others, share knowledge and information, express disagreements tactfully and ability to lead interdisciplinary and multicultural team.
  • Communication: Ability to present concise, clear and precise analysis and recommendations. The post requires the ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Opportunity Summary: 

  • Type of contract: Consultant (CNS Full time)
  • Length of contract: 12 months.
  • Location: The work will be performed remotely from the consultant home in the metropolitan area of Washington, DC due to Covid-19. Once return to office in place consultancy will be at the IDB Headquarters located in Washington, DC.
  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
