Data Privacy Consultancy

Background of this search:

The Data Privacy team, under the VPF Analytics & Decision Support Unit, is responsible for ensuring compliance with the IDB’s Personal Data Privacy Policy. As such, it conducts periodic assessments, including data protection impact assessments, to determine the principles in the policy and guidelines are applied across the IDB. It also identifies and suggests prioritization of privacy risk treatment for the organization and determines how to maintain and improve adherence to the policy. In addition, the team is also responsible for privacy awareness and training program and serves as a main point of contact for individuals regarding the processing of their personal data and the exercise of their rights.

The team’s mission:

The role of the Data Privacy consultant is to support the Data Privacy team build and operationalize the IDB's privacy program, and to describe privacy requirements for business partners and service providers.

What you’ll do:

The Data Privacy consultant fulfills the following tasks.

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the IDB's privacy program and the resulting privacy procedures, and documentation for the processing of personal data in coordination with appropriate members of the organization.
  • Work to ensure the IDB maintains the appropriate privacy and confidentiality consent procedures, authorization forms, and information notices.
  • Work with procurement, vendor management and the legal department to ensure third-party suppliers' contracts and operating-level agreements meet privacy policy requirements.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of an internal reporting mechanism for intended personal data processing activities, to which business unit/process owners must adhere.
  • Receive and manage internal reports from business stakeholders regarding project and innovation initiatives, including change management, to ensure timely attention for privacy bottlenecks and hiatuses.
  • In collaboration with business stakeholders, support privacy impact assessment processes, including continuous reviews and updates.
  • Conduct regular privacy policy compliance assessments to ensure that IDB's privacy policies are being adhered to.
  • Maintain records of processing activities and data stores to ensure business processes collecting and handling personal data are properly justified and documented.
  • Assist business units developing risk mitigation and corrective action plans for identified privacy compliance issues.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of privacy controls across service offerings to prevent an unacceptable impact on business objectives and reputation.
  • Support DPO in activities related to the response to and documentation of privacy breaches, as they arise.
  • Provide metrics related to privacy program activities, compliance, and incidents to support program reporting.
  • Support the tracking of data requests and responses and assist in developing corresponding materials to respond to these requests.

What you’ll need:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: Master’s degree or higher in business administration, law, finance, accounting, computer science or a related discipline is required. One or more of the following certifications, Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Management (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in privacy, data protection, security, risk management, auditing and/or compliance.
  • Lenguages: English

Core and Technical Competencies:

  • Experience or familiarity with governance, risk and compliance (GRC) tools and how they can be used to support privacy programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills. Sound business judgment, with the ability to think strategically and give practical advice by balancing business needs with risks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work well with a diverse client base.
  • Ability to maintain proper documentation, relevant records, and archives in an orderly, and transparent fashion.
