Corporate Travel Specialist

Location: Washington, D.C.

About this position 

We are looking for an innovative, analytical, client-focused, and collaborative Corporate Services Specialist. As a Corporate Services Specialist, you will lead the Bank’s Corporate Travel Program. 

You will work in the Travel, Security, and General Services Team, part of the Budget and Administrative Services Department. This team is responsible for the Bank's Corporate Security Program, manages the Corporate Travel Program, and oversees the provision of Corporate Services. The Corporate Security Program manages Security and Organizational Resilience, including crisis management and business continuity. The Corporate Travel Program manages the travel management service provider, business travel documents, and travel insurance, negotiates airline and hotel agreements, and provides outsourcing services for offsite events. Corporate Services include the administration of food services, custodial services, correspondence and printing services, commuting services, and the childcare center at Headquarters.

What you’ll do 

  • Lead the Bank’s travel program, ensuring seamless coordination with internal stakeholders and external travel suppliers.
  • Manage the Bank’s contract with the Travel Agency, including developing metrics and tracking and analyzing relevant data for decision-making.
  • Develop and negotiate pricing and relevant contract business terms, ensuring cost efficiencies and competitive advantages in travel service delivery. Lead the negotiation, implementation, and management of contracts with travel suppliers.
  • Develop arguments for reengineering business processes and workflows to increase efficiencies, including cost/benefit analyses. Identify, evaluate, and adopt relevant industry best practices that can increase the travel program's efficiency and effectiveness.  
  • Produce reports on travel program performance, cost savings, compliance metrics, and carbon footprint of corporate travel. Promote technologies to streamline booking processes and improve traveler experience while enhancing safety and security measures. 
  • Update, implement, and interpret travel regulations and procedures and provide guidance to contracted suppliers.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer service and elevate the visibility of the Travel Program to provide a foundation for building a positive relationship with clients throughout the Bank. 

What you’ll need 

Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in International Relations, Tourism, or other fields relevant to the role's responsibilities. A master’s degree is a plus.

Experience: At least 8 years of relevant experience. Extensive knowledge of travel service delivery, including travel agencies, airlines, hotels, corporate credit cards, etc. Proficient in understanding US travel management company pricing methodologies. 

Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds. 

Strong customer-centric approach and experience dealing with complex and sensitive issues with tact, discretion, and diplomacy. 

Languages:  Proficiency in English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of Spanish is preferable.

Requirements

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents. 

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration 

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement. '
