Corporate Services – Committee Coordinator (Senior) Specialist.

About this position
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join the Office of the Secretary in a pivotal role. You will contribute to the decision-making process of the IDB Group’s Boards and Committees by coordinating the discussion of corporate and operational issues, facilitating deliberations, and detailing meeting outcomes.
You will play a central role in preparing, conducting, and following up on the meetings of the Board of Executive Directors and Committees of the IDB, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab, ensuring the smooth functioning of the Committees under your coordination.
What you’ll do:
- Support Chairpersons of Board Committees in all aspects of the Committees’ management.
- Prepare, follow up, and update the Committee’s work program in coordination with Management and the Committee Chairpersons.
- Facilitate coordination between Management teams in preparing, submitting, and following up on items to be considered by Committees.
- Advise Committee Chairpersons and Management teams on the handling and processing items to be submitted to or under consideration of Committees.
- Provide support to Committee Chairpersons in the preparation, conduction, and follow-up of Committee meetings and serve as Secretary of those meetings.
- Prepare briefings in anticipation of meetings and draft reports of the Committee Chairperson on matters to be submitted for Board consideration.
- Advise members of the IDB Group’s Boards of Executive Directors and Management on Board regulations and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with the Board-approved regulations, procedures, and terms of reference of Committees. Contribute to their review to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Keep the Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Section Chief informed of all relevant matters concerning the Committees’ activities.
- Review the content of minutes prepared by the Services to the Board, Committees and Management Section (SEC/STB) Officers, as well as communications to be sent from SEC regarding Committees’ activities.
- Coach and mentor junior colleagues within the Section.
- Provide support to SEC/STB Section Chief on specific projects, as requested.
What you'll need:
- Education: Hold a master’s degree or equivalent advanced university degree in economics, law, political science, public policy, public administration, government, international relations or related field.
- Experience: At least seven years of relevant professional experience. Understanding of and experience in international development and multilateral financial institutions, as well as private sector financing in Latin America and the Caribbean, are desirable. Familiarity with or the ability to swiftly develop an understanding of the governance and business of the IDB Group, including institutional priorities, policies, and the functioning of the organization, are a plus
- Languages: Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English. A working understanding of French or Portuguese would be a plus.

Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
- International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
