About this position

The Global Partnerships Office in Asia’s key functional areas include strategic engagement, partnership building, and mobilization of financial/non-financial resources and knowledge with existing and potential partners, which include international institutions, academic and universities, NGOs, as well as a range of other Asian-based partners in the private and public sectors to support the IDB Group’s development activities through close coordination with the Resource Mobilization Division (REM) of GPS, and other relevant operational units.

 

We are looking for a dynamic and resourceful young talent to join the team to support strengthening and enhancing the IDB Group’s strategic partnerships and resource mobilization activities in Asia.

 

What you’ll do

The selected candidate will perform a wide range of business support functions of a highly responsible nature to support ASI team to enhance the strategic dialogue with the member countries and key stakeholders in Asia, aligning with priorities of the IDB Group, through a) identifying partners and key areas of collaboration with the IDB Group; and b) reporting on activities, on all strategic aspects, including resource mobilization.

 Further detailed activities will include, but not limited to:

  • Design and implement a data-driven system to improve efficiency in all institutional engagement activities. This system could be digitalized and will allow: (i) to better track operational opportunities for institutional engagement in a more systematized manner in coordination with the IDB Group Sector Departments; (ii) to increase responsiveness to consultations and information requests; and (iii) to map and manage resource mobilization efforts.
  • Perform mapping and landscaping exercises of potential partners and other stakeholders in member countries, in Asia.
  • Conduct data gathering to support analysis of partnership opportunities and landscaping of potential sources of funding to support the IDB Group’s mandate and priorities.
  • Support ASI’s efforts in outreach and partnership activities with other multilateral and region organizations in Asia.
  • Support ASI’s efforts in outreach and identification of partnership opportunities in Asian countries that are non-members of the IDB Group.
  • Provide support for coordination and project management including the preparation of agenda and logistical planning of a wide variety of activities, including high-level forum, conferences, missions, internal meetings, seminars, online and in-print publications, feasibility studies, among others.
  • Contribute to ASI’s knowledge sharing, innovation, and communication activities in multiple media available (email, in-print, online or social media) to disseminate best practices and lessons-learned in the partnerships, key development tools, among others as well as maintain and improve visualization of ASI website, daily news reporting and other communication tools in line with the ORP communication strategy. 

What you'll need 

  • Education: Master’s degree and in Business Administration, Finance, International Development, Economics, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. 
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Languages: Japanese and Proficiency in English.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Japan or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries eligible to obtain a valid residency or legal permit to work in Japan without the need for sponsorship by the IDB.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

  • Type of contract: National Consultant Full-Time.
  • Length of contract: 12 months.
  • Work Location: On site.
