Communications Senior Associate 

Strategic Communications Unit

   
Background: We are looking for a bilingual communicator to join our strategic communications team in Washington DC. You will be a part of a small group of professionals responsible for the IDB Group’s corporate communications, branding and internal communication. Your reporting, storytelling and writing skills, in both Spanish and English, are essential to the role. You should also enjoy working under pressure and have a demonstrated ability to produce content for multiple formats under tight deadlines.

   
The team’s mission: The Strategic Communications Unit is responsible for supporting the communications of the Office of the President and senior management, managing the IDB Group's brand, handling crisis communications and internal communication guidelines, and preparing crosscutting messages for positioning of the IDB Group.

   
What you’ll do:

  • Conduct interviews, report and write articles on IDB Group personnel, projects and initiatives in an engaging, journalistic format.
  • Contribute to planning and implementing multiple internal communication campaigns for activities and events relevant to IDB Group personnel.
  • Write and edit other internal communication materials as needed, in collaboration with specialists from throughout the IDB.
  • Coordinate the organization of volunteer events with the local community via the IDB´s Community Relations Program.
  • Manage the yearly call for proposals for the Community Relations Grant Program and related event production.
  • Contribute to maintaining the IDB’s corporate identity by providing guidance on proper use of logos and corporate messaging across platforms and events.
  • Collaborate with the Unit team on other related activities as needed.

What you’ll need:

  
Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

  
Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.

  
Education: You hold a Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Marketing, Business Administration or other relevant fields.

   
Experience: You have a minimum of 4 years of experience in corporate communications, internal communication, public relations or journalism, preferably in an international institution or multinational corporation. Experience in managing multiple accounts and proven analytical skills. Experience in working with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated interpersonal, organization and time management skills.

  
Languages: Excellent writing and communication skills and proficiency in Spanish and English. Knowledge of another of the Bank's Official languages is a plus (French or Portuguese).

  
Computer skills: High proficiency with current industry standards and techniques for digital content creation, including familiarity with digital content management and measurement platforms such as Hootsuite, Salesforce, Wordpress, etc.
