What you’ll need:

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.

Education: Academic Degree/ Level & Years of Professional Work Experience: Master's degree or equivalent in strategic communication, social marketing, journalism or public relations with a specialty in health.

Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience in design, develop and implement communications strategies for development programs and/or public institutions.  Strong knowledge and experience in the creation of audio-visual platforms and multimedia strategies.

Languages: English and Spanish.

Core and Technical Competencies:

  • Strong preference given to those with relevant background in global health and institutional relations.
  • Knowledge and experience in resource mobilization and partnership building. ·
  • Skills to develop and expand relationships with international and local media.
  • Excellent writing and communications capabilities.
  • Audiovisual editing capabilities and knowledge.
  • Knowledge and experience in multimedia platforms, data driven journalism, web design and transmedia language strategies.
  • Ability to read, summarize and organize technical documents.
  • Skills:
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Ability to define and articulate a shared vision and strategy consistent with MHI long-term objectives.
  • Planning, Organizing and Executing: Prioritize and sequence actions for maximum efficiency and timeliness. Develop procedures to meet commitments and deadlines.  Lead and coordinate work effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Coordination and convening power: ability to coordinate with media outlets and convening power with governmental institutions and the private sector.
  • Teamwork: Build consensus and encourage involvement of each of the founding donors and the IDB effectively.

Opportunity Summary: 

Type of contract:  Full time consultant

Length of contract: 18 months with a possibility of 18 additional months based on performance.

Location: Headquarter in Washington DC

Responsible person: Health Principal Specialist (SCL/SPH)
