Colombia Sostenible Management– Climate Change and Sustainability Lead or Senior Specialist. Bogota, Colombia. 

 

Background:


In the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Sector (CSD) within the Vice-Presidency of Sectors and Knowledge (VPS) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), we conceptualize, prepare, support the execution and oversee the Bank’s operations in borrowing member countries. Our main activities include lending operations, technical assistance, and knowledge generation. We are composed of three divisions: (i) Environment, Rural Development and Disaster Risk Management Division; (ii) the Climate Change Division; and the (iii) the Housing and Urban Development Division.  We contribute to turning the Bank into an organization that continually invests in knowledge generation and dissemination in the areas of climate change and sustainability.

 

The Team: The Government of Colombia, with our support, has developed the “Colombia Sostenible”  with a focus on rural development, environmental sustainability, and climate change.

 

In this role, you will contribute, from our Country office in Colombia, to our engagement through financial and technical assistance as well as analytical work, to ensure that the proposed projects respond to the priorities and objectives agreed.

 

The thematic areas of work would include: alternative development of forests areas and promoting silvo-pastoral and agroforestry system, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, physical and social infrastructure for rural productivity, payment for environmental services, strengthening of local institutional capacities, comprehensive care for vulnerable populations, environmental and social land use planning.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical, analytical and operational support for the implementation of the Program.

  • Lead technically the implementation and monitoring of the “Colombia Sostenible” Fund in the Bank, in accordance with what is established regulations.

  • Coordinate with the Technical Coordination Unit (TCU) and with the member entities of the Steering Committee of the Fund the technical aspects related with the projects of both the Multi-Donor Fund and the loan, as well as the establishment of monitoring and monitoring mechanisms, and reporting and check.

  • Support the operations related to the Program that are in the portfolio of our Country office in Colombia

  • Participate in relevant Fund committees, in coordination with the TCU.

  • Any other responsibility defined by the Sector Manager.

 

Skills you’ll need:

  

Education: Advanced degree (Master's) in Public Policies, Social Sciences, Environmental economics, Environmental Management, Public Administration or any related Technical disciplines.

Experience: At least 6 years of experience in areas related to sustainability during which you have developed an expertise working with Institutions and Policies.

Languages: Excellent command of Spanish and English.

Opportunity Summary: 

Type of contract: Fixed term

Length of Contract: 3 years

Starting date:  as soon as possible.

Location: Bogota, Colombia

Requirements: Candidates must be citizens of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group
