 What you’ll need: 

  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Jamaica or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Jamaica. 
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education:  A bachelor’s degree in agricultural science, plant sciences or agronomy.
  • Experience:
  • At least two years of technical agricultural activity.  Expertise in agricultural research and innovation in the Jamaican context would be an asset, preferably with prior experience in the castor oil industry.  
  • Existing relationships with research institutions, potential suppliers and private sector players that may be able to support the commercialization of innovative products and services developed by the cluster.  
  • Languages: Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
 Core and Technical Competencies: 
  • Specific knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following thematic areas would be an advantage: climate smart agriculture, irrigation, greenhouse, disease management, post-harvest loss reduction, and others.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand both the technical effectiveness and commercial viability of piloted innovations.
  • Strong demonstration and facilitation skills to attract the scale up of successfully piloted innovations.
 Opportunity Summary:
  • Type of contract and modality: Products and External Services Contractual, Lump Sum.
  • Length of contract: 12 Months
  • Starting Date: July 2019
  • Location:  Jamaica
  • Responsible person: This consultancy is financed by a technical cooperation under the leadership of Carmine Paolo De Salvo, Rural Development Specialist (RND/CHA). The consultancy will be supervised by Annie Bertrand, but the consultant will report directly to Judith Johnston, Cluster Manager responsible for the overall implementation of the Castor Bean Cluster Project in Jamaica.
  • Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
