  • Academic Degree/ Level & Years of Professional Work Experience:  Bachelor´s degree or equivalent in Economics or related areas and two years of relevant professional experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language: Ability to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish and English.
  • Areas of Expertise: In-depth knowledge of one or more fields of economics and awareness of its relationship with other fields.
  • Skills: Knowledge of current analytical tools and quantitative techniques/methods such as econometric techniques and macroeconomic modeling.
    • Critical thinking abilities.
    • Ability to provide sound technical support.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle several tasks and participate in different teams at the same time.
    • Ability to be receptive to new ideas, interact in groups and exhibit leadership qualities.
    • Knowledge of Bank processes, including routine preparation of country briefs.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Flexibility and adaptability, as well as willingness to learn new skills and face unexpected challenges. 
    • Computer skills:  Word, Excel, Power Point and Statistical Packages. 

Characteristics of the Consultancy

  • Contractual category and modality: Defined Term Contractual (DTC), Monthly.
  • Contract duration: 30 months.

  • Place(s) of work: The primary post of Duty will be Panama City, Panama, but the candidate should expect to have missions within the countries of the Department CID.

  • Responsible person: Principal Economist (CID/CID).

     

    Travel expenses will be covered in accordance with the travel policy of the Bank.

     

Payment and Conditions: Compensation will be determined in accordance with Bank’s policies and procedures. The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may contribute toward travel and moving expenses. In addition, candidates must be citizens of an IDB member country.

Visa and Work Permit: The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may submit a visa request to the applicable immigration authorities; however, the granting of the visa is at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Notwithstanding, it is the responsibility of the candidate to obtain the necessary visa or work permits required by the authorities of the country(ies) in which the services will be rendered to the Bank. If a candidate cannot obtain a visa or work permit to render services to the Bank the contractual offer will be rescinded

Consanguinity: Pursuant to applicable Bank policy, candidates with relatives (including the fourth degree of consanguinity and the second degree of affinity, including spouse) working for the Bank as staff members or Complementary Workforce contractuals, will not be eligible to provide services for the Bank.
