What you’ll need:

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.

Education: Academic Degree-Level & Years of Professional Work Experience: Master’s degree in Law, Environment, social sciences or related field. 
Areas of Expertise: Environmental and social issues and/or in the field of sustainable development, with special focus on the LAC Region an asset.

Experience: At least five years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Languages: Full command of Spanish and English is required; knowledge of Portuguese and/or French desirable.

Core and Technical Competencies:
    • Knowledge of international financial institutions and accountability mechanisms. 
    • Ability to analyze complex fact and documentary issues, write clear and precise analytical documents and adapt communication to different audiences, particularly sensitive to the nuances between private and public-sector perspectives.
    • He/she must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and willing to tackle the administrative challenges of working in a small fast-paced office composed of diverse people working for different projects simultaneously.
    • He/she must be proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and knowledgeable in the handling of confidential issues. Attention to detail is a must.
    • In-depth knowledge of international development policy framework, social and environmental sustainability issues.
    • Knowledge of IDB Group Operational Policies and IFC Performance Standards is desirable.
    • Ability to convey facts and ideas clearly and in an organized manner in writing and verbally.
    • Strong oral and written communications skills with diverse audiences and ability to exhibit a professional presence through clear and respectful communication.
    • Ability to act independently and resourcefully in responding to work demands.
    • Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and change.
    • Able to work in highly sensitive cross-cultural and politically charged environments.
    • Ability to carry himself/herself with professionalism when interacting with involved parties and colleagues, respond to requests promptly and resourcefully to deliver high quality service.
    • Technology savvy and fast learner to make efficient use of office software.
    • Ability to anticipate and meet the needs of internal and external clients and colleagues.

Opportunity Summary: 

Type of contract: Consultant.

Length of contract: 19 months.

Location: Inter-American Development Bank Headquarters, Washington DC.

Responsible person: The Consultant will report to the MICI Director who delegates daily supervision onto the Compliance Review Phase Coordinator.  He/she is obligated to maintain excellent working relations with every other member of the Mechanism.

Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
