What you’ll need:
  • Citizenship: For international consultants, we may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group. 
  • Education: Law degree (Juris Doctor, LL.M., or equivalent degree) from an accredited university and admission to practice law in at least one IDBG member country.
  • Experience: Professional experience in private sector law firms in the U.S. and in Latin America and the Caribbean is essential.  At least 8+ years of relevant professional legal experience.
  • Languages: Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish required; knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus.

Core and technical competencies:
  • Areas of Expertise: Knowledge and substantive legal experience in both civil and common law systems. The consultant should have demonstrated professional experience in cross-border commercial transactions in one of the following areas:
    • Direct equity investments, convertible loans, warrants and other equity participation structures;
    • Investments in early stage equity, limited partnerships, especially if involving angel and venture capital, including via trusts and other vehicles; and
    • Grants and loans promoting impact investment, incorporating upside or downside flexible payment arrangements.

  • Location: To be defined (Buenos Aires, Argentina; Kingston, Jamaica; Panama City, Panama or Bogota, Colombia)
  • Responsible person: Legal Lead Counsel
