What you'll need 

  • Education: Master’s degree in a relevant quantitative and computational field, such as Geography, GIS, Computer Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a related area. 
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience (with ArcGIS and other relevant tools/systems). 
  • Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Programming: Proficiency using Python and JavaScript. 

Key skills: 

  • Technical skills:
    • Experience in analyzing geospatial data and creating map-based information with Esri software including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, their associated APIs, and Developer SDKs (Python, JS, REST APIs, ArcPy, Pandas).
    • Experience leveraging ArcGIS Dashboard, Insights, Survey123, StoryMaps, Experience Builder (ExB), Web AppBuilder (WAB).
    • Ability to develop and maintain databases of geospatial data.
    • Ability to uphold data management and governance.
    • Strong aptitude for conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis.
    • Experience translating the unit’s needs to appropriate GIS technologies.
    • MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
    • Understand the use of GIS in the context of international development.
  • Soft skills:
    • Self-management and flexibility.
    • Dependability and focus on results.
    • Strong communication/presentation skills and ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.
    • Passion for emerging technologies.
  • Desirable skills:
    • Experience and understanding of machine learning and predictive analytics methods and techniques.
    • Experience with R language.
    • Experience in querying data using SQL.
    • Esri certification for ArcGIS Pro.
    • Experience with QGIS.
    • Experience in international development, in peer organizations like USAID, World Bank Group, and other UN entities.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. 
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration:

  • Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time. 
  • Length of contract: 12 months.
  • Work Location: On site. Washington, D.C. (Headquarters)
