What you’ll need: You hold an advanced degree (master’s or equivalent) from an accredited university in a field of the social, sciences or humanities that is relevant to sustainable and inclusive development.
Professional Experience:
-
A minimum of 10 years of proven experience related to advancing sustainable and/or inclusive development in the Amazon region is needed.

Experience with advancing the sustainable development agenda is highly desirable.

You have extensive experience conducting strategic-level technical dialogues with diverse groups (e.g. public sector, private sector, civil society, Indigenous and/or traditional communities), including dialogues in matters related tour work.

Experience facilitating dialogues and negotiations that directly involved more than one Amazon Country is a plus.

You have experience in connecting strategic-level discussions with realities at the operational level.

A working understanding of multi-lateral development banks is useful.

You have a demonstrated understanding of the fundamental economic, socio-cultural and environmental characteristics of the Amazon territories within the countries that are the focus of the Amazon Initiative.

Languages:

Proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) is required.

Proficiency in Portuguese is desirable.

Knowledge of other languages spoken within the Amazonian territories biome is of interest.

Opportunity Summary:
Type of contract: Fixed term
Length of contract: 3 years, with possibility for renewal as per mutual agreement
Starting date: Upon agreement with the candidate
Location: Washington, D.C. initially, with possibility of assignment to an IDBG Country Office in an Amazon country during the term of contract.
Requirements: You must be a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.
