Administrative Support Consultancy for the Competitiveness, Technology, and Innovation Division.

 

Background of this search:


Established in 1959, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is the main source of multilateral financing for economic, social, and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. It provides loans, grants, guarantees, policy advice and technical assistance to the public and private sectors of its borrowing member countries. 


The Competitiveness, Technology and Innovation Division (IFD/CTI) supports Bank operations in the areas of Science, Technology, Innovation, as well as entrepreneurship to strengthen development in the region and promote specific projects that foster national, regional and sector innovation systems.


CTI is also responsible for the preparation and implementation of the Bank’s Strategy and action plan in all the above-mentioned areas.


To address and support member countries in all these topics, the CTI Division requires a core team that can give support to the entire group in each one of production lines to meet its yearly goals; more specifically an administrative support as part of the front office team of the division.


The team’s mission:


The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through its Competitiveness, Technology and Innovation Division (CTI), promotes the creation and growth of dynamic firms in Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) countries by strengthening the capacities and tools to innovate and compete in international markets. The strategic objectives of the division are: increasing private sector investment in innovation and technological development; promoting innovative entrepreneurship and the creation of new businesses; boosting the productivity of firms and their capabilities to network and compete in international markets; building and strengthening the capacity of institutions and enhancing the environment for innovation and productive development. The division uses the following instruments to fulfill its strategic objectives: financing, through loans and technical cooperation; pre-financing, through technical assistance programs; institutional strengthening and resource mobilization; creation and dissemination of knowledge products; and support to regional policy dialogues.


What you’ll do:

In the above context, the effective execution of resources as well as the preparation and execution of outreach and dissemination activities is key on accomplishing CTI’s objectives. This consultancy is meant to provide transactional and administrative support to the Division’s Chief and Resource Planner in the areas of administrative needs and coordination of events.


The consultant will carry out the following activities:

  • Direct assistance to the Division Chief in all administrative aspects.
  • Assist in the design, preparation, implementation, and development of outreach tasks needed including events and dissemination activities of the division.
  • Provide support in processing individual consultancy contracts as well as firm contracts requests and follow up on their administration.
  • Assist the Division on the processing of clearances for external events participation through the Front Office and Secretariat.
  • Assist on travel logistics and accommodation of the team and/or special guests as needed.
  • Processing of financial requests such as payments, letter of agreements, invoices, vendor requests etc. linked them to the appropriate budget accounts and maintain and organized record.
  • Use systems and tools to generate data and produce reports as needed.
  • Assist on the internal organization of archives and files as well as to maintain its updating and organization through the Bank systems.
  • Facilities management and technical support (ITE) coordination as requested and needed.
  • The activities are part of the position’s main responsibilities; however, they do not exclude additional activities that may be necessary for completing tasks.
What you’ll need:
  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: Technical Studies or Associate degree in Business Administration, finance or accounting or any related field.
  • Experience: At least three (3) years of work experience at an international organization considering the support and management of administrative activities. Knowledge of the IDB’s corporate information systems are a plus
  • Languages: Excellent oral and written command of English and Spanish.
Core and Technical Competencies:

Results oriented and teamwork candidate with ability to communicate effectively and in writing as well as having a good sense of establishing priorities at work and capable to adapt easily to change.
