Accounting Policy Lead or Senior Specialist

                     
Background: The Finance Department is looking for an Accounting Policy and Procedures professional to join our Accounting Division. You will be in charge to ensure the Bank’s compliance with accounting standards established by standard setters in the United States.

            

The team’s mission: The Accounting Division prepares all financial documents and reports for the Bank's main funds and other funds under its administration, establishing accounting policies and procedures, managing all accounting operations and monitoring and ensuring that the accounting and reporting is in compliance with US GAAP or other applicable basis of accounting.

          

What you’ll do:

  • Monitor the standard setting processes of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to evaluate the Bank's compliance with these standards.

  • Prepare periodic reports on the status of new accounting pronouncements that may impact the Bank.

  • Interpret and apply accounting rules, standards and policies.

  • Manage the implementation of accounting projects and standards.

  • Prepare accounting policy position and issue papers recommending appropriate practices, including suitable form/content for disclosures.

  • Maintain and update the Bank’s accounting policy documentation, including the policy manual and related procedures / guidelines.

  • Provide accounting consultation on complex, large or proposed transactions.

  • Assess the accounting implications of Bank activities and business events.

  • Serve as a liaison for technical accounting issues with both internal and external audit staffs.

  • Review and provide input on quarterly and annual financial reports and statements filed with the SEC and/or submitted to other stakeholders.

  • Educate executives in senior management on current accounting issues.

  • Provide training to staff throughout the Bank on accounting policies, procedures and standards.

What you’ll need:                   

               

Citizenship:

  • You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.            

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.                  

 

Education: You hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting or related field. U.S. CPA license is preferred. CPA may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree, provided the candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.                    

 

Experience: You have at least eight years of relevant professional experience in accounting and financial reporting. Progressive experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm and/or technical accounting policy functions at financial institutions and multilateral organizations preferred.          

           

Languages: You are proficient in English and in a second language of the Bank (Spanish, Portuguese, and/or French).
